Paws of Fury: The Legend of Hank 2022 Movie Review Trailer

Directors: Mark Koetsier, Rob Minkoff, Chris Bailey
Writers: Ed Stone, Nate Hopper, Mel Brooks
Stars: Michelle Yeoh, Samuel L. Jackson, Mel Brooks

Comedy, cuteness, and crazy action explode throughout the trailer! Not to mention an all-star cast, Samuel L. Jackson, Mel Brooks, George Takei, Aasif Mandvi, Gabriel Iglesias, Djimon Hounsou, Michelle Yeoh, Kylie Kuioka, and Cathy Shim! Paws of Fury really aims to make Hank a legend. The trailer definitely has the movie going in that direction. They take a simple fart joke to a completely epic scale, which is irrefutably hilarious, but it’s also just one example of the genius of comedy writing. I really want to know if Mel Brooks, Andrew Bergman, Richard Pryor or Norman Steinberg had anything to do with it. It feels like Mel Brooks to me.

If you’re the kind of person who likes to stay on top of animated movies hitting theaters and streaming services near you, there’s a good chance you’ve been following the journey too long to bring Paws of Fury: The Legend of Hank. to the silver screen. Once titled Blazing Samurai, as the film was meant to be a loose riff on Mel Brooks’ beloved satire Blazing Saddles, this computer-animated martial arts comedy was first announced in 2015 and was scheduled for release in April. of 2017 before a variety. setbacks delayed the launch for half a decade.

As time went on, it was hard not to wonder if this movie would ever see the light of day. Was it cursed? Is it even a real movie? Time has not been on his side, suffice it to say. But it seems that his worst days will soon be behind him. As its new poster (and new title) revealed, Paws of Fury is finally slated to arrive later this year, and we’ll be getting a new trailer soon to announce its newly minted summer release. It’s been a pretty strenuous journey for this troublesome production, but maybe the wait at the end will be worth it? Only time will tell on that front.

On the bright side of things, Paws of Fury: The Legend of Hank is now scheduled to hit theaters on July 15, putting it right in the middle of the summer movie season. Hopefully that shows some confidence on Paramount Pictures’ part, as they’ll allow the movie to open two weeks after Minions: The Rise of Gru releases on July 1 and two weeks before DC League of Super-Pets arrives. in theaters July 29. With families apparently feeling more comfortable going to the movies this year than they have in the previous two years due to the pandemic, it makes sense that studios plan to release as many notable family animated movies as they can fit in that school.

Paws of Fury has jumped between production companies and distributors over the past several years, with Open Road Films previously acquiring the film in 2015. Paramount picked up the film earlier this year. While the film has seen its fair share of changes throughout production, screenwriters Ed Stone and Nate Hopper have remained credited from the start. So hopefully that means the story itself hasn’t seen too many major long-term changes. It’s also worth noting that the celebrity voice ensemble has generally remained the same, with Michael Cera voicing the role of Hank, Samuel L. Jackson set to play Jimbo, with Ricky Gervais, Djimon Honsou, George Takei, Gabriel Iglesias, Michelle Yeoh and, as a tribute, Brooks is attached to a variety of supporting roles. There’s a good chance these high-caliber talents were a big reason why Paws of Fury remained a huge point of interest to finish, even during the long-running issues of the delayed movie.
